Where stag beetles roam and ground beetles scuttle, deadwood is a resource that is no longer a common sight in woodlands across the countryside. Dead, decaying or rotting wood is the idea of heaven for many insects, spiders and other creepy crawlies. They live and feed on the wood until it has completely decomposed.
Deadwood is unbelievably important, without it we would not have soil yet with it we have an enriched life full of weird and wonderful creepy crawlies. Buglife – The Invertebrate Conservation Trust aims to encourage the replenishment of deadwood for these amazing little creatures and for the health of our planet.
