The biggest challenge lies in taking electricity and internet to the remotest corners of the world if education for all is to be achieved. The Second Millennium Development Goal states that every child in the world should have access to primary education by 2015. Today, 72 million children are deprived of this opportunity because of poverty, war, natural disasters and discrimination. Harnessing the power of internet technology is one way to achieve this goal.
Distance education is not a new concept but, (with growth of the internet, new dimensions have been added to it.) with growth of internet use via a dsl modem, the goal gets considerably closer.
