Flint stands for sourcing building materials locally - a plentiful resource that occurs in the clay and chalk of Southern England. Flint has been used since antiquity both structurally and decoratively. Used as a roadstone by the Romans, later for building castles and churches, and more recently domestic buildings.
It is very durable, versatile, beautiful, various and low-impact.
And can be combined with other materials for building walls.
In contemporary natural building it is ideal as a plinth in timber frame buildings or as a splashback to protect lime render from the elements.
