Honey - the nectar of the Gods - connects humanity directly to biodiversity via bees. A variety of honey bees produce the amber nectar; without these often overlooked creatures, humanity would starve. Most agriculture relies on bees, butterflies, moths, hummingbirds and other creatures, to shift pollen from plant to plant. Humanity often likes to play god!
Our planet becomes increasingly a monoculture of mass production, from potatoes to palm oil, because we forget that biodiversity requires diversity, and the pollinators to maintain it. Without it, we not only threaten the nectar of the gods, but ourselves and our own future.
